The American sociopolitical landscape began a radical transformation in the months following 9/11. With the right side of the spectrum edging into neo-conservative fundamentalism, the left answered with distrust, anger, and grassroots resolve to challenge the Bush Administration. Somewhere between these emerging polarities was the crater left behind in lower Manhattan. Like many others, I went there to look.

Still Alive starts at the periphery of 'ground zero', with a blunt statement graffitied on the temporary plywood perimeter fence surrounding the World Trade Center site. From there it follows grassroots struggle along the widening gap between ideological frameworks and political realities in post 9/11 America.
